In a collaboration between a pair of growing Florida-based brands, Big Storm Brewing Company has produced the first (and only) house beer for Oak & Stone restaurants.
Snowbird Pilsner, created by the Clearwater-based brewery, benefits from an extended maturation period which results in a smooth, bready malt profile highlighted by crisp German noble hops. The approachable, golden-colored brew clocks in at 4.8 percent ABV and is enjoyable on its own or paired with any of Oak & Stone’s upscale tavern selections.
“We’re thrilled to announce Snowbird Pilsner, our first house beer. We’re very pleased with the hops profile and drinkability,” says Oak & Stone co-owner Brett Decklever in a release. “Cheers to Big Storm for nailing our flavor.”
Snowbird will be available year-round at any of Oak & Stone’s five locations: downtown St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Sarasota and its University Park suburb, and Naples. The pilsner can be enjoyed in-store via the chain’s famous touchless self-pour tap wall or to-go in growlers at an location except St. Pete.
“This Pilsner was created for Oak & Stone with a small twist. The twist is the use of Perle hops instead of the traditional Saaz hops. Perle hops bring increased floral and spicy notes without an increase in bitterness,” says Oak & Stone craft beer specialist Sean Barber. “The Big Storm Brewing team created an amazing flavor and we’re excited to share it with our guests.”
The collaboration is the first of its kind for Big Storm Brewing Company, which also has taprooms in Odessa and Cape Coral — and recently announced it will be opening a Tampa location, in the former Hamburger Mary’s space in the Ybor City neighborhood.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Oak & Stone and take great pride in knowing we were selected to brew their year-round house beer, Snowbird Pilsner,” says Big Storm director of sales and marketing Shannon Brooks. “Oak & Stone is a great partner of Big Storm, and we look forward to working with their talented team for years to come.”
