Visit Florida has partnered with Michelin Guide to launch the inaugural Michelin Guide to Florida, highlighting the culinary scenes of Tampa, Orlando and Miami starting in 2022.

Michelin Guide partnered with Visit Florida based on Florida’s strength in tourism and the diverse and exciting local cuisine.

“Some people may not get how important this is…this is super important,” said Visit Tampa Bay president and CEO Santiago Corrada to Fox 13 News. “People are Michelin fanatics that will travel all over the world just to dine in Michelin restaurants.”

Local restaurateurs say they’re proud of how far Tampa’s tourism has come. Andrea Gonzmart with the Columbia Restaurant Group tells Fox 13 News that she is excited for the state and that it would be ‘awesome’ to be awarded a star.

“This gives Florida the opportunity to highlight the dynamic and unexpected culinary adventures the Sunshine State has to offer from locally-grown produce and fresh seafood to unique fusions from cultures around the world,” said Dana Young, President and CEO of Visit Florida in a press release.

Florida will become the fifth US destination to gain a Michelin Guide behind New YorkWashington, DCChicago, and California.
